The
Magic of Magnets
If
you purchase a magnet with a handle attached to it at
a hardware store, you can use it in several ways around
the barnyard. Slowly swing it over the area where the
farrier worked to pick up stray nails and nail clippings.
You can also use it while you're doing a barn carpentry
project to hold nails and screws safely, and to check
for stray nails and screws when the job is complete. Use
it to hold studs (horse shoe studs, used for traction
in less than optimum footing) when putting them in (lost
studs in stall bedding can be a nightmare!) Use it to
hold (or find) pins for bandaging and blanketing. The
handiness of such an inexpensive tool is amazing once
you start to use one. There always seems to be a new task
that seems perfectly suited for it.
